Easily add a slide out window for your checkout on your web builder with our new Slide Checkout feature!
Previously, you had to manage some custom coding in order to implement a checkout that slides onto your existing website after a button or a link is clicked. Now, you can easily use this conversion boosting feature with just a few clicks! Continue reading for steps on utilizing Slide Checkout.
Adding Slide Checkout to your Existing Webpage
Before getting started, it is important to note that this feature works with every webpage builder that allows you to embed scripts into the header. If your webpage does not allow edits to the Head, navigate to the Utilizing the Simplified Button section.
To add the Slide Checkout feature to your website, navigate to your Share button inside your product. Then click on the Slide tab:
Click on the Generate Slide Code button:
This will bring out the Slide Checkout Code pop up:
First, in the Step 1 section you will need to click on the Copy Code button. This will automatically copy code that you will need to paste into the head section of your website.
For example, you would paste your code into a Header section of your page builder like the following:
Once you have added and saved code into the head of your website, navigate back to your SamCart Slide Checkout Code popup and click on the Copy Link button in the Step 2 section:
Once you've copied your link, paste the URL into any button, text, image, widget that you can hyperlink!
That’s it! Now, whenever anyone clicks on the linked widget your checkout experience will slide in from the right of your page!
Utilizing the Simplified Button Feature
As mentioned at the beginning of this article, if you are using a website builder that does not have a setting for you to edit the head code or aren’t on a plan that allows those changes, no worries! With the Simplified Button option you can still utilize the Slide Checkout feature.
First, inside the Slide Checkout Code pop up, click on Simplified Button:
Here you will be able to create a button inside SamCart that you can copy and paste into your page builder.
First, set up how you’d like your button to appear on your page:
Once you have your button’s settings configured, click on the Copy Code button inside the Step 2 section:
After you have copied the code, you will just need to paste the code into any area of your page you’d like to include a button that triggers a checkout to slide in!
Note: The Slide Checkout and Simplified Button feature do require code to be added into your third party page builder. As of October 10, 2024, our team has done extensive testing and feels confident that our Slide Checkout works on all page builders that allow you to edit the Head code. If you run into any issues following any of the above steps please reach out to support@samcart.com and we are happy to help. However, please note that due to the use of a third party tool, troubleshooting may be limited and will require screenshots from inside your page builder's code section.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How can I make my Slide Checkout come in from the left?
A: By default, the Slide Checkout will come from the right side of your page. When grabbing the link for your widget inside Step 2 you’ll see the actual URL that includes a ‘right’ slug.
To have the checkout slide in from the left side of the page, you will manually want to replace the ‘right’ text of the URL with ‘left’ when adding the URL to your widget of your page builder. For example:
https://this-is-an-example.mysamcart.com/checkout/slide-checkout#samcart-slide-open-left
Q: Can I have multiple Slide Checkouts with different products on my page?
A: Absolutely! With this new and improved version of Slide Checkout you can easily add in as many different products to your page without affecting page load time! Just follow the Adding Slide Checkout steps for each additional button from inside your different products.
Q: Can I trigger the Slide Checkout with a unique action outside of clicking on a button/link?
A: For Slide Checkout, after you add in the code to the Head of your page, you can add the URL to any widget that allows you to add in a link. That said, if you would like to have the Slide Checkout apply to an action outside of clicking a button, for example, a customer watches a video or scrolls past a certain part of the page, you can do this by using the Advanced Custom Code section inside the Slide Checkout Code popup.
This will bring up a couple advanced steps that utilize Javascript to add in unique code for custom triggers:
Note: This does require experience with Javascript. Our team cannot build a custom trigger for you. Additionally, because this is utilizing custom coding from a third party, our support team will have limited range with troubleshooting.
