Frequently Asked Questions

Q: My customers use a currency that isn't listed, can they still buy?

A: Absolutely. If your price is $100 (USD), and your customer wants to pay with, for example, Hungarian Forint (HUF), the credit card company will use the latest exchange rates to charge the customer the correct amount of money.

At time of writing, $100 comes out to about 27,720 (HUF). So, the customer would have 27,720 (HUF) withdrawn from their bank account, and the seller would have $100 deposited into theirs, all done automatically thanks to the fine people at the major credit card companies.

Q: Will my customers have to pay exchange fees?

A: No. If the currency you display your prices in does not match the currency in your customer's bank account, the credit card companies and payment processors use the latest exchange rates to charge the right amount of money, without anyone paying any exchange fees.

Q: What if I change my currency, then refund an older charge that used the old currency? Will I lose money?

A: No again! When an order is placed, the currency for that order is locked and will not be changed. So if a customer places an order for $100 USD ($), any future refunds will give back $100 USD ($), regardless of whether you changed the currency for your account. That said, an important note is that once any order has been processed, you will no longer be able to change the currency of your marketplace, so this scenario should not occur.

Q: I want to change my currency. How do I do this?

A: Unfortunately, we cannot always change your Currency. You can, however, write into Support at support@samcart.com to inquire if your Marketplace is eligible for a currency change.

Q: I have two Marketplaces with different currencies. Can I use the same domain for both?

A: No, you cannot use the same domain for multiple Marketplaces. Alternatively, you can create a subdomain to use for each additional Marketplace.
